2-Port Secure Console Server
Lantronix Secure Console Servers provide unlimited
access to remote network and telecom equipment,
helping you maintain optimum system performance
and availability.
Using your existing IP network or a single modem
connection, Secure Console Servers provide remote
access to data and voice equipment. All that is
required is an available console or serial port
(RS-232, RS-422, RS-485) on your equipment.
Secure Console Ser ver s a re a f lex ib le and powerful
tool to manage devices such as: hubs, switches,
routers, servers, UPS systems, PBX systems, and
telecom switches.
Using In-Band management, you can manage your
equipment over the network, from virtually any place
you have access, using familiar tools like Telnet or
Secure Shell (SSH).
Even if the network is down, Secure Console Servers
have an Out-of-Band management feature that
allows dial-in access through a modem connection.
Where multiple pieces of equipment are installed,
modem sharing allows you to realize a significant
savings in installation and monthly operating costs.
Secure Console Servers ensure the integrity of your
equipment and data through several measures.
Authentication limits access to authorized users only,
using usernames and passwords, modem dial-back,
PAP/CHAP, Radius, Kerberos and SecurID.
Authorization restricts access to equipment and
services, based on stored user profiles. Secure
Shell (SSH) safeguards login passwords and in-transit
data through strong encryption.
Managing remote equipment can be a challenge,
especially when system configurations vary from
location to location. For quick and direct access to
your equipment, Lantronix Secure Console Servers
feature a configurable menuing system. This system
allows remote equipment to be selected using your
own descriptions. For example, menus could be
organized by equipment location and name. Menus
can also be configured specifically for each user,
limiting access to specific equipment.
Event management features help you locate
the source of equipment problems and diagnose
them quickly. Each serial port can be independently
configured to store console messages from attached
equipment, and to alert a network manager of a
potential problem by e-mail over the network or
through an alternate modem connection. Upon
receiving notification, network managers can review
the stored console messages to determine the
cause of the problem.
Lantronix Secure Console Servers are "break" safe,
meaning that power cycling the Console Server will
not cause connected equipment to see a "break"
signal on the console port, which can cause some
devices to shut down or switch to monitor mode.
The SCS200 features 2 high-speed serial ports and a
10/100 Mbps (10Base-T, 100Base-TX) Ethernet
interface. Setup can be accomplished through a
serial port, by using Telnet or with the included
cross-platform EZWebCon™ configuration utility.
When you need to remotely monitor and manage
your network and telecom equipment, look to
Lantronix for a complete Console Management
Solution – connecting you with your information.
