■The Next Generation
The STPC Pictor will incorporate ST’s
Pentium-II®class core with MMX
(366 MHz P-rating). It will integrate
all the same peripheral functions as the
STPC Consumer-II and will be signal
pin compatible. The EIDE port will be
enhanced to support the ATA66 UIDE
standard common in today’s hard disk
drives.

■The STPC Consumer-II enables the 2 billion televisions in homes around the
world to access the Internet. Providing manufacturers with all the PC functionality they
require on a single chip, the device is now being designed into
"Web Boxes"
- stand-
alone boxes that connect between the TV and phone line - and
"Web-Enabled TVs"

where the function is integrated inside the TV.
The STPC Consumer-II is a highly integrated system-on-chip device based on a 5x86
core and a powerful graphics / video engine. It can handle high performance graphics
and video with no processor overhead and can output directly to a TV using its built-in
PAL/NTSC TV encoder.
