Safety- and commissioning instructions
1.5 Installation
Take care of an even ground, suitable fastening of feet or flange and an exact alignment for direct
coupling. Avoid that structure--dependent natural frequencies occur within the rotary frequency
and the double mains frequency. Turn rotor, listen for abnormal frictioning noises.
Check direction of rotation before coupling (observe paragraph ”Electrical connection”).
Couplings or other driving elements are only allowed to be installed or removed with suitable
devices (heating!) and to be covered with protection against accidental contact. Avoid inadmissible
radial and axial bearing loads (observe manufacturer documentation). Balance of the high voltage
motor is indicated on the shaft end face or on the rating plate (H = half key, F = full key). In case
of a half key (H) the coupling must also be balanced with a half key. Remove any protruding and
visible part of the key.
If required, make the necessary pipe connections. Mounting types with the shaft end facing
upwards are to be provided with a cover by the customer. The ventilation must not be hindered
and the outgoing air – also from adjacent units – must not be directly sucked in again.
1.6 Electrical connection
All work is only allowed to be done by qualified personnel with the high voltage motor at
standstill. Prior to start work it is imperative that the following 5 safety rules are applied:
-- Electrically dead
-- Locking against restart
-- Check de--energizing
-- Earthing and short--circuiting
-- Adjacent parts under voltage are to be covered or provided with barriers
Auxiliary circuits (e.g. space heater) must also be electrically dead.
Exceeding the limits of range A indicated in EN 60034-1/ DIN VDE 0530 -1 -- voltage 5%,
frequency 2%, curvature, symmetry -- will result in an excessive heating.
Observe data on the rating plate as well as the wiring diagram in the terminal box.
Connection is to be made in such a way that a durably safe, electrical connection is maintained;
provided cable end equipment is to be used.
A safe potential equalization is to be made and maintained.
The minimum air gaps between uninsulated and live parts themselves and to earth must not be
lower than the following values: 36 mm at UN≤3.2 kV, 60 mm at UN≤6.3 kV,
100 mm at UN≤10 kV. The operating voltage may exceed the voltage level indicated
by 10%.
The terminal box must be free from foreign bodies, dirt as well as humidity.
For trial operation without driving elements the key is to be secured.
For high voltage motors with additional equipment check before initial start--up, whether the
additional equipment is perfectly functioning.
The plant erector is responsible for the adequate installation (e.g. signal lines and power cables,
shielded lines and cables etc. to be spaced apart).
If no other data is indicated, the tightening torques according to paragraph 5.8.2. are applicable
to the terminal screws and nuts.
