Thi s p opular Tran sient Voltag e Suppr essor ( TVS) series for 1N60 36 th r u 1N6072A are JE D EC
regis tered selections for bidirectional devices . All have the same hig h P eak P ulse Power
rating of 150 0 W with ext r emel y fast response t im es. They are also available in military
qualified selecti ons as described in th e Featuressection her ein. They are most often u sed
for protecti ng ag ainst transi ents from inductive swit ching environ ments, induced RF effec ts, or
induced sec ondary ligh tning effect s as fou nd in lower surge levels of IEC61000-4-5. They are
als o very successful i n prot ecti ng air borne avioni cs and electrical systems. S in ce their
res ponse time is vir tu ally in stantaneous , they c an also pr otect from ESD and E FT per
IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4.
Important: For the latest information, visit our website http://www.microsemi.com.
FEATURES
Bidirectional TVS series in axial packages for thru-hole mounting.
Suppresses transients up to 1500 watts @ 10/1000 µs (see Figure 1).
Clamps transients in less than 100 pico seconds.
Working voltage (VWM) range 5.5 V to 185 V.
Hermetically sealed DO-13 metal p ac kage.
JAN, JANTX, JANTXV military quali fications also available per MIL-PRF-19500/507 for the tighter
tolerance “A” suffix types by adding the JAN, JANTX, or JANTXV prefix, e.g. JANTXV1N6036A,
etc.
RoHS compliant versions available (commercial grade only).
APPLICAT IONS / BENE FITS

Definition
VWM
Standoff Voltage: Applied Reverse Voltage to assure a nonconductive condition.
V(BR)
Breakdown Voltage: This is the Breakdown Voltage the device will exhibit at 25 oC.
VC
Maximum Clamping Voltage: The maximum peak voltage appearing across the TVS when subjected to the peak pulse
current in a one m illisecond time interval. The peak pulse voltage is the combination of voltage rise due to both the
series resistance and thermal rise and positive temperature coefficient (αV(BR) ).
I
PP
Peak Pulse Current: The peak current during the impulse. (See Figure 2)
PPP
Peak Pulse Power: The pulse power as determined by the product of VC and IPP.
I
D
Standby Current: The current at the standoff voltage (V
WM
).
I(BR)
Breakdown Current: The current used for measuring Breakdown Voltage (V(BR) ).
