INTRODUCTION
The DSP1695 Multiservice Access Processor is opti-
mized for central-site equipment that is servicing
Internet and corporate access applications. This
device has a RAM-based architecture to support
upgradability to future standards and enhanced
functionality and features. This RAM-based archi-
tecture allows the DSP1695 to be downloaded to
support various services and capabilities.
The DSP1695 has four processing units with each
unit assignable to any service on any of
128 channels. It utilizes Lucent’s latest processing
technology (0.25 µm ESRAM) to achieve silicon
integration and power savings.
For analog modem services, the DSP1695
supports both V.90 and K56flex standards for rates
up to 56 kbits/s over ordinary phone lines, as well
as older standards. The code to support these
standards is the same as the highly interoperable
code that is being shipped today.
For analog FAX services, the DSP1695 supports
the latest V.34 FAX service, as well as older stan-
dards. This code is the same as the highly interop-
erable code that is being shipped today.
For ISDN data services, the DSP1695 supports
both HDLC and transparent modes on 64 kbits/s
and 56 kbits/s channels. The DSP1695 also sup-
ports auto detection of data over voice calls.
For wireless data services, the DSP1695 supports
ETC2for analog cellular service, V.110 for GSM
service, and IWF functionality for TDMA/CDMA
services.
For Internet telephony services, the DSP1695
provides standard-based algorithms for network
echo cancellation, speech coding/decoding, and
concurrent detection/generation of DTMF tones.
The DSP1695 provides a high-speed, 16-bit host
interface with bidirectional DMA-capable FIFOs to
facilitate data transfer, DSP code downloading,
and real-time control and monitoring.
