74VHCU04 Hex Inverter General Description Features The 74VHCU04 is an advanced high speed CMOS INVERTER fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It achieves the high speed operation similar to equivalent Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining the CMOS low power dissipation. Since the internal circuit is composed of a single stage inverter, it can be used in analog applications such as crystal oscillators. An input protection circuit ensures that 0V - 7V can be applied to the input pins without regard to the supply voltage. This device can be used to interface 5V to 3V systems and two supply systems such as battery back up. This circuit prevents device destruction due to mismatched supply and input voltages. The databook specifications should be met, without exception, to ensure that the system design is reliable over its power supply, temperature, and output/input loading variables. National does not recommend operation outside databook specifications. b 0.5V to a 7.0V b 0.5V to a 7.0V DC Output Voltage (VOUT) Input Diode Current (IIK) Output Diode Current (IOK) DC Output Current (IOUT) DC VCC/GND Current (ICC) Storage Temperature (TSTG) Lead Temperature (TL) (Soldering, 10 seconds) b 0.5V to VCC a 0.5V b 20 mA g 20 mA g 25 mA g 50 mA Recommended Operating Conditions b 65 C to a 150 C 260 C Supply Voltage (VCC) Input Voltage (VIN) Output Voltage (VOUT) Operating Temperature (TOPR) 74VHC 2.0V to a 5.5V 0V to a 5.5V 0V to VCC b 40 C to a 85 C DC Characteristics for 'VHC Family Devices Symbol Parameter VCC (V) 74VHC 74VHC TA e 25 C TA e b40 C to a 85 C Min VIH High Level Input Voltage 2.0 3.0-5.5 VIL Low Level Input Voltage 2.0 3.0-5.5 VOH High Level Output Voltage VOL Low Level Output Voltage Max Min 1.8 2.7 4.0 3.0 4.5 2.58 3.94 2.0 3.0 4.5 0.0 0.0 0.0 Conditions Max 1.70 0.8 VCC 0.30 0.20 VCC 2.0 3.0 4.5 2.0 3.0 4.5 Typ 1.70 0.8 VCC Units V 0.30 0.20 VCC V 1.8 2.7 4.0 V 2.48 3.80 V 0.2 0.3 0.5 0.2 0.3 0.5 V 3.0 4.5 0.36 0.36 0.44 0.44 V VIN e VIL IOH e b50 mA VIN e GND IOH e b4 mA IOH e b8 mA VIN e VIH IOL e 50 mA VIN e VCC IOL e 4 mA IOL e 8 mA IIN Input Leakage Current 0-5.5 g 0.1 g 1.0 mA VIN e 5.5V or GND ICC Quiescent Supply Current 5.5 2.0 20.0 mA VIN e VCC or GND http://www.national.com 2 DC Characteristics for 'VHC Family Devices 74VHC Symbol VCC (V) Parameter TA e 25 C Typ Limits Units Conditions **VOLP Quiet Output Maximum Dynamic VOL 5.0 0.5 0.8 V CL e 50 pF **VOLV Quiet Output Minimum Dynamic VOL 5.0 b 0.5 b 0.8 V CL e 50 pF **VIHD Minimum High Level Dynamic Input Voltage 5.0 4.0 V CL e 50 pF **VILD Maximum Low Level Dynamic Input Voltage 5.0 1.0 V CL e 50 pF **Parameter guaranteed by design.
