HostRAID RAID 0, 1, and 10
Adaptec HostRAID provides fast, secure data
transactions w ith suppor t for both mir roring
(RAID 1) and striping (RAID 0) and new
support for a combination of mirroring and
striping (RAID 10). With mirroring, data is
simultaneously written to two or more drives,
allowing for fault tolerant data protection.
Striping improves system performance by writing
data to multiple drives. This is especially valuable
when running data intensive applications such as
database and video/audio streaming. Adaptec’s
newest Ultra320 SCSI cards also provide RAID 10.
This RAID level combines the performance
enhancements of striping with the fault tolerant
properties of mirroring to provide an optimal
performance/protection solution.
