Installing the Module
Attaching the Mounting Plate
Figure 5 Attaching the mounting plate
Screw the mounting plate directly onto a flat
mounting surface.
The mounting plate is not supplied as
standard and must be ordered
separately (Order No. 27 41 14 7).
Keying the Mounting Plate
When attaching the plate, turn the octagonal
plate (1) until the male connector in the
module fits exactly into the plate drill hole.
Ground the module via the FE
connection using mounting screws.
Connecting the AS-i and Power Supply
Figure 6 Connecting the AS-i and power
supply (notch facing down)
There are two ways of mounting flat cables.
1When mounting flat cables with the notch
facing down, proceed as follows:
Insert the yellow flat cable for the bus into
the yellow bracket.
Insert the bracket in the appropriate slots in
the mounting plate.
Insert the black flat cable for the power
supply into the black bracket.
Insert the bracket in the appropriate slots in
the mounting plate.

the yellow bracket.
Insert the bracket with the bar facing up in
the appropriate slots in the mounting plate.
Insert the black flat cable for the power
supply into the black bracket.
Insert the bracket with the bar facing up in
the appropriate slots in the mounting plate.
Mounting the Module
Figure 8 Mounting the module
Snap the hasps of the module onto the tabs
of the mounting plate (1) and press the
module onto the mounting plate.
Secure the module by tightening the screw
(2).
Ensure that IP 67 protection is
provided.
Ensure the cable openings are
sealed.

Connecting Sensors/Actuators
Figure 9 Connecting sensors/actuators
Connect your sensors to the desired inputs.
Connect your actuators to the desired
outputs.
Screw a protective cap
(Order No. 16 80 53 9, some are
supplied as standard) onto any
connectors that are not being used.
Connecting the Addressing Device
Figure 10 Connecting the addressing device
To set the address of the module manually
instead of via the master, proceed as follows:
Remove the protective cap from the female
addressing connector (1).
Connect the addressing device
(Order No. 27 41 33 8) to the female
addressing connector using the addressing
cable (Order No. 27 41 34 1).
Set the address of the module.
Disconnect the addressing device from the
module.
Screw the protective cap back onto
the female addressing connector.

Connection Example
Figure 11 Typical sensor and actuator connections
Connection Notes
Meet immunity to interference
requirements and enable
insulation resistance measuring
Ground the module via the FE
connection using mounting screws.
Avoid damage to the electronics
An external power supply unit should
never be used to supply the sensors.
Avoid compensating currents
All sensors must be insulated.
Use a PELV power supply
The auxiliary supply to the outputs
must be tapped from a safely isolated
power supply (PELV according to
IEC 60364-4-41).
